A combination of business rate and VAT rises, food price inflation and the cost of living has created a perfect storm for the industry, with businesses forced to cut staff, close sites and reduce opening hours.
The Treasury insists it is taking action to help, but restaurants and cafes around the country say it’s becoming a struggle to stay afloat.
