Reform UK: ‘Young people are being taught to hate their country’ | LBC Debate

Zia Yusuf, Reform UK’s chariman, claimed that British people had undergone an “industrial scale demoralisation”, with children “taught… that they should hate their country”. Speaking to The Times after his party’s strong performance in local elections this week, Mr Yusuf also claimed that the UK “has one of the most profoundly impressive and decisively impactful histories of any country in the world”. Ben Kentish debates with Charlie downs, 23, who lobbied for the party’s youth group last year. The commentator said that the ‘framing’ of the way Henry VIII is taught in schools, as a ‘tyrannical, mad king…was the embodiment of pre-WWII Britain’. Ben was also joined by Steve Howell, former Deputy Director of Strategy and Communications for Jeremy Corbyn in 2017 – and author of the book ‘Game Changer’, based on that campaign. Reform, led by Nigel Farage, made major gains in the local elections, picking up ten councils and more than 600 seats in Thursday’s poll – leading to speculation that they could even emerge victorious from a future General Election. #benkentish #reform #reformuk #nigelfarage #ukpolitics #school #education #henryviii #ukhistory #LBC Credit to : LBC
