Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney campaigned on a promise to confront U.S. President Donald Trump and his tariffs, a message that helped him get elected. However, this promise is now facing increased scrutiny as Carney announced that the federal government would be lifting many of its retaliatory tariffs against the U.S. A move aimed to mirror American tariffs and serve as an olive branch to restart stalled trade talks. However, as Mackenzie Gray reports, all of this is occurring while the U.S. has promised nothing in return.
