‘Do you lie awake thinking about her?’ | LBC callers react to Angela Rayner’s tax ‘dodge’

A row over Angela Rayner’s latest home purchase continues to deepen following suggestions the Deputy PM ‘dodged £40,000 in stamp duty’.

The “holiday home” in Hove now sits alongside her three-bedroom flat grace-and-favour flat in central London and her constituency home near Manchester.

It follows Ms Rayner’s decision to give councils the power to hike tax on second homes, with the purchase joining her property portfolio of two other residences.

It comes as Stephen Kinnock, Minister of State for Care, defended the Deputy PM, telling Nick Ferrari at Breakfast that Ms Rayner had “done absolutely nothing wrong.”

0:00 | Bal in Stourbridge has Nick in stitches as he argues that Angela Rayner is ‘creating work for accountants’.
2:14 | Lee in Preston believes she’s ‘done nothing wrong’ and that Nick is ‘obsessed’ with her.
3:15 | Nick asks Claire in Dorking if she buys into the argument that the row has only emerged because the Deputy PM is a woman.
4:44 | Nick reads out texts, saying it’s a ‘non-story’ and that he ‘should do a better job’.
5:10 | Matt in Dartford thinks Ms Rayner should pay back the difference in stamp duty, as politicians should ‘act as they preach’.
