‘Majority Of Terror Attacks In UK Are By Islamists’ | Police Arrest Three More For Synagogue Attack
Police have named Jihad Al-Shamie, 35, as the attacker behind the Manchester synagogue terror attack that killed two people and injured three.
Al-Shamie, a British man of Syrian descent, drove into worshippers outside Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue before stabbing bystanders. He was shot dead by police minutes later.
The attack, which happened on Yom Kippur, has been declared a terrorist incident. Three others have been arrested.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the assault as an antisemitic attack, promising extra police at synagogues nationwide. Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis said it was the result of rising Jew hatred in the UK.
Rabbi Daniel Walker was praised as a hero for shutting the synagogue doors and protecting worshippers inside.
