Keir Starmer has urged students not to join pro-Palestinian protests on 7 October, the anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel, warning of “rising antisemitism”.
He called it “un-British” to show “so little respect” by protesting on the date of the 2022 massacre and said some demonstrations had become excuses to attack British Jews.
Extra security has been deployed after last week’s Manchester synagogue attack. Student marches are planned in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol, Sheffield, and Strathclyde.
