Thousand of students gather in London for October 7 pro-Palestine march

Controversial pro-Gaza protests are taking place on Tuesday with students marching through central London on the second anniversary of the October 7 attacks.

An “Inter-University March” is among a string of events happening, with hundreds of students taking part in the protest from King’s College London on the Strand, passing the London School of Economics, University College London and finishing at the School of Oriental and African Studies.

Sir Keir Starmer has urged students to call off the protests taking place across the country on the second anniversary of the Hamas attacks – which saw around 1,200 Israelis killed and 251 more taken hostage – calling them “un-British”. The prime minister’s official spokesperson said protesters “should demonstrate humanity”.

Israel’s military retaliation in Gaza has claimed the lives of around 67,000 Palestinians, according to health authorities.
