“Laughing Stock Of The World” | Trump Refuses To Thank UK Over Gaza Peace Deal
Jeremy Kyle and Brendan O’Neill, Chief Political Writer at Spiked, began with news about the government’s migrant policy, focusing on the so-called “one in, one out” deal.
Brendan O’Neill immediately labelled the policy “ludicrous” and “an absolute joke,” highlighting the stark contrast between the small number of deportations (26) and the large number of arrivals (1,075 in a single day).
He argued that the UK has become the “The Laughing Stock Of The World” for its failure to control its borders and maintain national integrity.
The discussion then broadened to a critique of the current UK political leadership, particularly Keir Starmer. Kyle questioned why Donald Trump, in his triumphant speech about the Middle East ceasefire, had not mentioned the United Kingdom or Starmer.
Brendan O’Neill said he was not surprised, arguing that the UK has reduced itself to a “second-tier nation” and that Starmer’s actions—such as recognising Palestine while the US and Israel were working to contain Hamas—had “embarrassed” the country on the world stage.
