“Many Come With The Intent Of Disappearing” | Police Suggest TAGGING Asylum Seekers To Track Them

A Sussex policing chief has suggested electronically tagging asylum seekers so their movements can be tracked, arguing it could deter crime and make it easier for police to find people with little official ID in the UK.

Katy Bourne, Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner, wants the idea trialled as a pilot on male asylum seekers due to be housed at Crowborough Army Training Camp, where the Home Office plans to place about 540 people. She says tagging could also give people more freedom to travel and possibly take temporary work while waiting for asylum decisions, and she compared it to a Sussex trial tagging persistent shoplifters.

The Home Office has previously said wider tagging could be unlawful or breach human rights unless there’s a specific legal basis.
