“Sadiq Khan Can’t Hide Any Further” | Met Police Reopen 9,000 Child Grooming Gang Cases

The Met Police is reopening 9,000 historic child grooming cases after criticism of Sadiq Khan’s claims that grooming gangs didn’t operate in London.

The review follows reports from the police watchdog (HMICFRS) detailing cases of girls as young as 13 being raped. Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley said the force is committed to safeguarding victims and bringing offenders to justice, calling group-based child abuse “particularly insidious.”

The move marks a U-turn after earlier comments suggesting no Rochdale- or Rotherham-style gangs existed in the capital.
