Sir Keir Starmer visited Lambeth Police Station alongside London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley, touring the force’s command-and-control special operations room.
“We’re in a fight for the soul of this country,” Starmer warned, calling this weekend’s Unite the Kingdom march “a stark reminder” of what Britain is up against and accusing its organisers of peddling “hatred and division”.
He vowed to block entry to anyone coming to the UK to incite hatred or violence, and promised that those who seek to wreak havoc on our streets, intimidate, or threaten others will “face the full force of the law”.
Tens of thousands are expected at the self-styled “Unite the Kingdom” march, promoted by Tommy Robinson — real name Stephen Yaxley Lennon.
