Arklow Gem arrives at Workington Port after a four-day, six-hour voyage from Lisboa, Portugal with a cargo of cement powder. The cargo is discharged into a new £10 million cement import terminal built by Thomas Armstrong (Aggregates), Flimby. Using a vacuum truck and a compressed air system the cement powder is discharged into two giant silos which can hold around 20,000 tonnes.
