‘What are they afraid of?’ Historian’s lecture cut by BBC

Historian and author Rutger Bregman tells James O’Brien that the BBC are ‘obeying in advance’ after the broadcaster removed a comment about Donald Trump from his Radio 4 lecture.

Rutger Bregman, who is presenting this year’s Reith Lectures, said he included a line referring to Trump as ‘the most openly corrupt president ever’ in a section discussing US politics, but that it was removed prior to its broadcast.

What was the reason for the edit and would this have happened under ‘normal’ circumstances?
