On Wednesday 12th August 2026, skywatchers are in for a rare celestial treat, as the most significant solar eclipse since 1999 will be visible across the UK.
In the UK, there will be a partial eclipse, with up to 96% of the Sun obscured by the Moon in some areas – the most it has been blocked since the total eclipse in 1999.
