Why are Labour losing? Polling expert Sir John Curtice explains

Professor Sir John Curtice tells Shelagh Fogarty that while Reform UK’s growing support poses a clearer problem for the Conservatives, the bigger picture shows Labour are in an uncomfortable position too. Polling data shows Labour bleeding votes not just to Reform, but also to the Greens, the Liberal Democrats — and in some cases, even back to the Tories. Sir John argues that Labour’s challenge is almost existential. Voters remain unclear on what Labour stands for: “What is this government about? What is its story?” Without a unifying narrative, he warned, Labour is vulnerable from both left and right. While the party has made some progress in areas like the NHS, it has not yet delivered visible results on growth or waiting lists. Add to that an unclear tax stance and controversial welfare decisions, Sir John concludes the party is failing to show the public what kind of future it’s trying to build. Credit to : LBC
