Why Starmer is wrong about the English flag and the ‘far right’

This summer’s Operation Raise the Colours, a grassroots campaign that encouraged people to hang Union flags and the St George’s Cross across the country in an act of defiant patriotism, has forced the Prime Minister into action.

Amid widespread flag hanging, and even painting of roundabouts, more than 100,000 marched across London at the ‘Unite the Kingdom’ rally earlier this month – an event organised by the English Defence League founder Tommy Robinson.

On Friday, Keir Starmer will finally respond, using a speech to call for the flag to be “reclaimed” from far-Right protesters.

Camilla and Tim explain why those hanging flags are mostly British people who “feel they’re at the back of the queue” and that Starmer wouldn’t be making these remarks if it wasn’t for the huge pressure he’s under from Nigel Farage and Reform UK.
